Tom Ostensen
Tom Ostensen is a Construction Management Consultant in San Juan Capistrano and a California licensed general contractor. Prior to this, he held senior executive positions at Birtcher Construction Ltd., Hedley Builders, Williams & Burrows and Equidon Contractors. Tom has served as Director of the Association of General Contractors of Orange County, Regional Director of the Association of General Contractors of California, and is a past member of the Building Industry Association of Orange County.

Tom's passion for his community and open space shows through his volunteer work. He was involved in the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association for 10 years and was president of the Association for five years. For five years, he served as the City's Parks, Recreation and Equestrian Commissioner, a member of the Open Space Committee, a graduate of the City’s CERT Class 5, and a commissioner of the Open Space, Trails and Equestrian Commission. He became a founding director of the SJC Open Space Foundation upon its inception in 2009. Tom is president of the SJC Historical Society, and was a member of the advisory board of The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo, a non-profit foundation that stewards a vast habitat reserve encompassing nearly 20,000 acres of preserved lands in south Orange County.

Tom was recognized in 2005 by the City of San Juan Capistrano Wall of Recognition, awarded Man of the Year in 2011 by the SJC Chamber of Commerce, and received the 2014 Hero on Preservation Award from the SJC Mission Preservation Foundation.

Tom is an active equestrian and is a past member of the Padre Junipero Serra Riders and a current member El Viaje de Portolá and the Los Caballeros Riders.
